I recently did this chalk drawing. I wanted to draw a Spanish bull fighter, so there you go. Do yourselves a favour, though, and take it from me: NEVER google image-search “bull fighter”. It is not pretty.
Anyways, I have no idea who this guy is, but I named him Guiomar (prononced gee-o-MAHR), which means “famous in war” in Spanish. It seemed right. I think it might have something to do with avenging his father? You tell me.

Here is a ‘pastiche’ I did of an amazing E. McKnight Kauffer poster from 1918 (shown below). I love this poster, and decided to pay tribute to it for a typography assignment, where I was asked to incorporate my name in “-ism” inspired designs.

Here’s a recent watercolour I did of a pretzel stand:
I took my inspiration from a cover of a Steely Dan album:
What I like best about this album cover is the difference in the spelling of ‘pretzel’ on it. Now that’s good logic.
Also, roughly based the man in suit off Rudy Giuliani.

I am taking an awesome design history class at school, where we make different things in the style of the period that we are studying. Once and a while, I’m going to post the fun projects I do in this class.
Here is a Victorian matchbox I did. (Yes, that is done in gouache on a 1″ x1 1/2″ matchbox! I practically lost my eyesight.)
It is my matchbook-tribute to Spain. Some of the ornamentation I used is influenced by the amazing Mezquita in Córdoba. I encourage you to go there one day, it is beautiful. Here is a picture of some of the columns that I took influence from:
…and a fun show of how excited I was about the huge bull billboards all over Spain:
